Tokikata Modern Gardens
Equilibre

Balance.  The focal stone of the Equilibre garden is a representation of the dynamic element of nature.

This stone maintains balance between opposing forces, like the fine line drawn between man and nature. The convergence of manmade and natural objects creates an experience that unifies people with the earth. Hewn granite, selected for its harmony of color and shape reveals the architectural attributes of stone. Drill marks are a symbol of mans relationship and effect on nature. White granite symbolizes purity, while rolling fog gently cleanses the air, and soul, like the crisp morning air of the forest. Stone outcroppings surrounded by moist mossy soil hosts a harmonious balance of a natural ecosystem with its elements in competition, while relying on their surroundings for survival. The damp air of a Bamboo forest, with its floor rich with its own leaf compost, provides an ideal environment for forest perennials and mosses.

Fog and light, stillness and movement, weight and lightness, symmetry and asymmetry …. This garden exemplifies the distinct and delicate balance between the forces of nature.

    Tokikata Modern Gardens

Garden designer Brendan Butler, and commercial designer Michael Boles, founded Tokikata Modern Gardens in 2006. After the 2001 completion of the elaborate Tenshi Garden at Boles hugely successful nightclub and event facility Compound, the pair knew the chemistry and design talent between them was marketable. After receiving many awards, and being noted as Atlanta’s most luxurious outdoor meeting place, the two decided to showcase their garden concepts in a retail showroom environment, marketing the items that made the Tenshi garden successful.  With Butler’s ten year track record of designing and installing gardens, and Boles extensive construction background, the two have begun to streamline the installation of high end modern gardens. The company is now constructing its retail center in Midtown, slated to open in spring 2007, and offers consultation, design and build services. Services will expand upon opening, to offer installation of all its products including water gardens, sculpture, stone, LED lighting, pools, and plant specimens.
