‘Planning and Planting for the Future’
Ed Castro Landscape
Southeastern Flower Show 2008

The future is now. We invite you to wander, explore, and discover the many ways to garden green. Our ability to employ and practice sustainable design can ensure prolific landscapes that will continue to thrive! By the use of good design, appropriate planning and planting techniques, and best management watering practices, we can continue to create beautiful environments for all.

Unwind from your active and stressful everyday life in this peaceful green retreat. Our garden is charming with quaint qualities of a simple and trouble free landscape. We invite you to be captivated by the planting composition of evergreens, flowering natives, herbaceous perennials, and all of the other special details and surprises of this garden.

Upon entering, the oversized stepping stones comfortably lead guests into the garden. Expanses of groundcovers, herbaceous, and drought tolerant plantings reduce the demand for water in this garden. Notice the inspiring urn overflowing with color and cascading succulents. Catch a glimpse of the flowing water; its source just begging to be discovered around the bend. The lower terrace is encompassed with tall evergreens and layered native and ornamental species, creating a sense of seclusion and intimacy throughout this garden room.

Ascend the steps to the upper terrace, led by more oversized stepping stones and discover a retreat close to home. Enchanting views into the lower garden can be seen from the elevated gathering space of porous paving. Carefully selected textures and colors of the unique plantings and hardscape materials, add to the intrigue and appeal of this space.

While approaching the garden’s exit, reflect back on the beauty and possibilities we have presented. Ask questions. Everyone should take with them the knowledge and understanding of the benefits of going green.
